Tigers OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) out four to six weeks

Updates, people. We have updates! In the wake of an injury plagued 2015 season the Detroit Tigers are looking to avoid more of the same this year. "He didn't seem concerned".

With Maybin out, and as he works himself back into shape, Anthony Gose is the odds on favorite to get his playing time.

Sanchez will slot in behind Verlander and new signing Jordan Zimmermann in the rotation. Maybin was the designated hitter in the game because of a sore shoulder he sustained when he fell off his porch at his home in North Carolina just before leaving for Florida a couple weeks ago. Julio Teheran is to pitch in a minor league game. He had been expected to start in center field or possibly platoon with left-handed hitting Anthony Gose. Tyler Collins, who ended last season as the regular left fielder, has made 24 starts in center as a pro. With the National League East club, Maybin hit. While better than previous year, aside from Maybin to Gose, the dropoff from the Tigers' starters to their replacements is huge, and potentially a season killer for a team that spent like a contender this offseason on Justin Upton, Jordan Zimmermann, Francisco Rodriguez, and Mark Lowe.

Originally, Sanchez (per a tweet from MLB.com's Jason Beck) "said he felt tricep flare up when he cranked up fastball in bullpen session".

Maybin was pulled from Wednesday's game, though acting manager Omar Vizquel said it was for "precautionary reasons".

His wrist will be immobilized for two weeks at which time he will undergo an X-ray to evaluate healing.

While there is a possibility that Maybin is ready for Opening Day, if he is not, the following players within the Tigers organization could be possible replacements for Maybin until he is healthy again.

Initially, this seemed like good news, but the Tigers official Twitter account tweeted out a statement saying that Maybin "suffered a non-displaced fracture of his left wrist..."

Maybin will miss the bulk of spring training and, from a team perspective, depth in center becomes a bit of an issue for the Tigers. Six weeks would push his return back to the middle of April.
