Immigrant Student Who Threatened Trump Is Getting DEPORTED
A student from Egypt is facing deportation from the United States over posts he made on Facebook about Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.
Emadeldin Elsayed, 23, has not been charged with a crime but authorities are trying to remove him from the country, his attorney, Hani Bushra, said.
An immigration court hearing will determine whether he will be deported.
"It is unfortunate that the immigration judge did not see that Emad's placement in removal proceedings came after law enforcement failed to file and sustain criminal charges against Emad, and therefore resorted to punishing him in different way", he said.
"The rhetoric is particularly high in this election, and I just feel he got caught up in the middle", he added.
"I am willing to kill Donald Trump and serve a life sentence".
Bushra said Elsayed's Facebook message was in response to Trump's anti-Muslim rhetoric and was accompanied by an article on the issue. The student stated that he immediately regretted posting the comment.
Mr Trump, who is leading the race for the Republican nomination for the presidency, has promised a crackdown on immigration.
However, the owner of his academy his school said he pulled its backing for his visa after being told to do so by federal authorities, a move that led to him losing his immigration status to stay in the country.
It's just a stupid post. "You can find thousands of these every hour on Facebook and the media", he told the AP in a phone interview from the jail he's being held at in Orange.
In a statement distributed to the press, Trump said that polling shows a "hatred" by Muslims toward Americans that could result in more attacks following the San Bernadino shooting spree which was carried out by two Muslims who authorities said were radicalized.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement says Elsayed was arrested because he violated the terms of his visa. The Feds then forwarded the case to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the State Department and the Secret Service.
The billionaire real-estate mogul also called for a database to track Muslims across the United States, and said the USA would have "absolutely no choice" but to close down mosques.
Elsayed said that he will ask for a refund of some of his $65,000 he has paid to go to flight school if he is kicked out of the country. "He was so friendly with everyone".
"He's just a student who said something foolish, and it's being taken way out of proportion", Bushra said.
