Hello? says Adele as Matthew Mc Conaughey hands her a flip-phone during SNL teaser trailer

Matthew McConaughey has appeared on Saturday Night Live a lot more than Matthew McConaughey has hosted Saturday Night Live.

While Adele's talented mini-concert may have brought many of her fans to tears, "The British songstress' epic ballad had some hilarious side effects as well, serving as the saving grace for one family's terrible Thanksgiving in an SNL short", reports US Weekly.

The 27-year-old songbird stunned with a glorious, rafters-reaching rendition of "Hello" as musical guest during last night's Saturday Night Live, hosted by Matthew McConaughey.

This isn't the first time that Saturday Night Live has explored catharsis through Adele songs. Taran Killam's energy as the deeply, but transparently closeted half of the married host duo is always on the edge of being a cliché, and of being funny, without every quite getting to either, and Cecily Strong's clueless spouse plays the same beats, beating off her husband's too-amorous overtures for the cameras. It's a hurricane of impersonations both familiar (Aidy Bryant's Reba McEntire) and otherwise (Jon Rudnitsky's John Mayer.)

Eventually, Star Wars stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega join the crew, along with, rather inexplicably, Emma Stone and Jon Hamm.

What really took this over the top was the sneaky escalation of the sketch's production values: Mere lip-synching soon gave way to manicures, jackets, wigs, and locations that mirrored Adele's video for the song. But perhaps the most entertaining element of the episode came when the Dallas Buyers Club star revealed the origin story for his famed catchphrase, "Alright, alright, alright" during the monologue.

The leak only adds to Adele's impressive week. And then she made the best Adele face.

Overall, SNL has ended its first six episodes with more firms landings than we've seen in the past to start seasons. By the end of the sketch, they were all transformed into Adele with thick eyeliner, blond wigs, and even that weird furry coat she wears in the Hello video.

I'd love to see more of Parsons on Update, but more so, let's hope the Thanksgiving holiday gives the staff a creative rest, so the December episodes feel like more than Thanksgiving leftovers.

"I actually saw an ISIS in the A&P; today when I was picking up the yams".

Adele returned to the show for the first time since 2008 on the heels of her new album "25."
