Why Apple could finally make owning a new iPhone very affordable
Apple's rumored 4-inch iPhone is supposed to be debuting at an event set to be held on March 21, just under three weeks from today, but due to an unusual lack of part leaks, we still have no clear picture of exactly what the device will look like. A report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, an often-accurate Apple analyst, says that two models of the iPhone 7 Plus are in development right now.
The iPhone 7 release date isn't expected to land until the fall but early rumors have begun outlining some potential iPhone 7 specs.
According to the latest rumors, the iPhone 7 will be thinner than 1 mm from the iPhone 6s. By comparison the current iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thick, while the larger iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1mm.
Theories as to why Apple would abandon a technology that's been a standard for more than 130 years range from a wrap-around screen, to a hidden agenda of pushing its wireless Beats headphones onto the world. With the Cupertino-based company having named previous iPhones in an ordinal numbered series, with an "S" version coming as a following up later on, it appears that a "Pro" version would be introduced to users for the first time with the coming of the new iPhone 7.
The company which provides the majority of Apple's iPhone LCD panels, Japan Display, has recently come out with a new technology called Pixel Eyes which is said to respond to touch input even when the user has wet fingers.
What can drive more iPhone sales than having a new iPhone SE that costs about $450 and another older, but still capable iPhone 5S valued at $250? Apple is supposed to at least release one new iPhone 7 Plus model with dual camera lens system. By reducing the cost of the iPhone 5S and launching the iPhone SE, Apple is geared towards attracting customer attention towards 4-inch iPhone segment.
Speculations about iPhone 7 being water-resistant gained currency with reports that Apple Inc.
Apple is expected to announce both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus at an event in September. If Apple wants to draw more consumers in, they will need to do something more than making the handset thinner, and a new Dual Camera setup would certainly do the trick.
The iPhone 7's Lightning port will reportedly also be smaller, which is another one of Apple's design changes in order to make the handset as thin as possible.
With the iPhone 7 introduction likely just seven months away, we're starting to see more and more reports surrounding the device's more interesting features.
