The Mi 5 was expected to launch past year, but that didn't happen because the Snapdragon 820 wasn't available at the time.

Xiaomi is all-set to launch the much-awaited Mi 5 on February 24.

Liwan Jiang, co-founder and Senior Vice-President of Xiaomi, has posted information regarding the Mi 5's launch on Weibo, China's version of Twitter. For those unware the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 come with a metal body and comes in Champagne Gold and Dark Grey colours.

At the announced media event, the company will reveal the Mi 5's specifications. However global buyers can always import the Mi Pad 2 via Chinese resellers like GearBest, Everybuying etc.

Below the hood of the device lies Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset with a quadcore processor, which powers the flagship product. The special event to commemorate the occasion is being put together on February 24 and is expected to run for two hours. The flagship phone will come with 4 GB of RAM 64 GB of storage space in at least one configuration, while a variant might include 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of long-term storage space. In addition, most suggest that this phone will have internal storage ranging from 16 GB to 128 GB. This also means the first two variants will settle for a Full HD display resolution. Furthermore, it will be running on MIUI 7 which is Android 6.0 Marshmallow based.

Powered by a 3,600 mAh capacity battery, the Xiaomi device will introduce a fingerprint sensor on the home button.

Xiaomi is apparently addressing the demand of high-quality display panels by offering 2K display options on the Mi 5.
