CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) Superman is headed for the Super Bowl

Discarded just one year into a three-year contract, Ginn beat his former team in nearly every way imaginable - catching passes, running reverses, returning punts and even chasing down Patrick Peterson after an interception - helping the Carolina Panthers to a 49-15 win in the NFC championship on Sunday.

The Carolina Panthers will be pretty large favorites for Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif., two weeks from now when they take on the Denver Broncos.

After the Carolina Panthers defeated the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Conference championship game Sunday, the usual suspects took to Twitter to lambast Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

"My understanding is if everything goes well it is something he can mostly certainly play with", Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Monday. The Cardinals offense averaged 30.6 points and 408.3 yards per game and they were plus nine in turnover ratio. Newton passed for 311 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for two more, connecting with tight end Greg Olsen six times for a game-high 113 yards. "We're going to be excited".

The Panthers jumped out to a 17-0 lead and Palmer felt like he had to do something. They manhandled two prominent defenses in the playoffs, Seattle (at least for a half) and then Arizona (14-4). No one forced more turnovers than the Panthers, and only five clubs gave up fewer points (the Broncos were one, naturally). Denver returns to the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons and eighth time overall, tying Pittsburgh, Dallas, and New England for most all-time appearances.

The Oddest Manning Bowl Yet: So Peyton Manning's won a Super Bowl against the Bears in the pouring down rain, lost a Super Bowl against the Saints, lost a Super Bowl against the Seahawks after multiple neck surgeries and now he's on what might be his last legs, going against Newton and the Panthers. He was the guy and still is the guy that everyone looks at. Ed Stinson sacked Cam Newton, and that was about all the D-line mustered up.

He followed with a dab or two, handed the ball to a fan in the end zone, and ran to the sideline to chants of "MVP!".

"They are two different styles of quarterbacks", said Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., who has caught passes from both QBs in the last two seasons. He also led all Cardinals receivers with 9 receptions for 68 yards. On Sunday, all of those talents were on display.

He added: "I believe in our training staff, I believe in our doctors and I believe in the process, so I know that if it's at all possible, they're gonna get me back".

"Yeah, we are going to the Super Bowl".

"For us, we just kept our eyes focused on the prize, and the prize was the next game", Newton said. "Yeah, we won the football game, but there are some things we've got to be better with". The Broncos held off the Patriots in Sunday's AFC Championship, 20-18. But while Denver barely escaped with a win, Carolina was impressive in blowing out Arizona.
