"Ride Along 2" Dethrones "Star Wars" At Box-Office

Its A CinemaScore and positive reviews (well, positive for a Bay film) could help 13 Hours hold on over the coming weeks, but even the best-case scenario probably won't see its domestic earnings surpass its $50 million production budget by all that much. Starring Rob Schneider and Heather Graham, the animated comedy earned an A- CinemaScore from viewers under 18 and an overall score of B-. Thanks in part to its 12 Oscar nominations, The Revenant barely lost any ground en route to $29.5 million over three days and an expected $35 million over four, putting it on the brink of being only the third Best Picture nominee to top $100 million domestic. Bolstered by awards attention, "The Revenant" opened in first place in the United Kingdom with $7.8 million, topped charts in Korea with $5.7 million, and racked up $3 million in Italy.

The action-comedy still managed to disappoint slightly, opening below the $41.5 million that the first Ride Along surprised with in January of 2014 and somewhat below industry expectations in the high thirties for the three-day weekend.

The Force Awakens, on the other hand, just ended its magic streak atop the US box office. "The Forest", $7 million. 8. Ride Along 2 finds the bickering police officers trying to bring a Miami drug ring to justice.
