Thomas Davis: 'I'm Not Missing the Super Bowl. You Better Believe That'
The biggest stage in the National Football League (NFL) is set and Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis would not miss it for the world, vowing to play in the Super Bowl despite having a broken right forearm.
"My understanding is if everything goes well, it is most certainly something he'll be able to play with", Rivera said of Davis, a team captain.
The Panthers linebacker broke his right forearm in Sunday's 49-15 win over the Cardinals in the NFC championship game.
Despite it all, Davis has remained adamant that he'll be ready to suit up for Super Bowl 50 on February 7 in Santa Clara, California. "I can guarantee that", he said. "I ain't missing the Super Bowl, you know that", he said Sunday.
If there is one thing Carolina Panthers loyalists remember about All Pro linebacker Thomas Davis, it's the fact that he does not really get intimidated by injuries.
Davis had six tackles and two tackles for loss before leaving.
Davis was hurt during a second-quarter pass attempt by Arizona's Carson Palmer. "Three ACLs, broken fingers".
"We've got a guy that broke his arm who is trying to find any way to play in the game", quarterback Cam Newton said. It hasn't stopped him yet.
"If it comes down to a pain tolerance and playing through it, I'll be there. I think they will have to take all of his jerseys away - all five of them, and even the ones at home".
Carolina quickly ruled him out, along with veteran safety Roman Harper, who suffered a first-half eye injury.
The Tennessee Titans, who did not have any players selected for the Pro Bowl, now have two with defensive tackle Jurrell Casey and tight end Delanie Walker added to the roster to replace Short and Olsen. The fifth-year coach said he won't have any more information on his status until after the meeting.
Tolbert said after the game the knee was fine. Kalil returned in the second half to finish the game.
