GOG.com launches Early Access with 14-day refund policy

GOG launches early-access program

Steam Greenlight Style Early Access Program Coming To GOG

And for those that are a bit tired about the whole Early Access scene, GOG.com are offering a no-questions asked 14-day refund policy for all purchases.

Each of the above games is available to buy right now, with the added bonuses of being DRM free and can be refunded within 14 days, no questions asked. And now they're planning to take on Steam's early-access program with their own.

GOG used to stand for "good old games".

Quite the most exciting feature-and I don't often use that phrase in connection with a proprietary launcher-is the ability to roll back patches in GOG Galaxy at your discretion.

"Offering a selection of the most promising titles, and those most highly requested on the Community Wishlist, is our way of avoiding bloat and ensuring that every game will be worth your time", it said.

Rollback in GOG Galaxy - Keep playing your game if the newest update is not doing it for you, or revisit historical version snapshots. "Nowadays, we're seeing more games that are already great experiences while still in development", says Piotr Karwowski, GOG.com Managing Director.

Early Access has had its high times, it's also had its low times. Steam introduced a new refund policy previous year that allows for 14-day refunds for any game you've played less than two hours of, but doesn't make any special exceptions for Early Access games.

The program opens up today, with five games being offered in early-access. As for when the program goes live, you can actually start experiencing the Games in Development program right now.

There will also be game-specific subforums for those wanting to get in touch with developers, or just talk about the game.

GOG has picked five games to launch the service and each one is offered at a discount to celebrate the launch of the service. Well, we've all seen early access game updates that break every damned thing.
