Carolina Panthers' Cam Newton explains why race causes people to fear him

- Caylin Newton is excited about the Carolina Panthers big win and proud his big brother, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, is headed to the Super Bowl.

"If giving a kid a football just for a smile; or dancing after a touchdown hurts other people's feelings, then guess what?"

"Yet, people are going to say what they're going to say".

The ad features Newton working out in the gym, doing pull-ups and lifting weights. His Panthers have scored 80 points in the playoffs, tying last year's Patriots for the third-most points in two postseason games leading up to the Super Bowl.

Newton lay bare Wednesday in the lead-up to Super Bowl 50 what he believes is the reason why he's been such a lightning rod for criticism in his career.

"I say we ban Andrew's petition and ban him", says Murray. And this comes from a guy who thinks Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback ever and who has unbelievable respect for Aaron Rodgers. "That's why I get downgraded so much, because of something off the field".

"With the free agent pool, I've sent texts out before, called guys and said, 'We'd love for you to be part of the team.' But Mike was different", Newton said to Smith. He won the 2011 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and made the Pro Bowl in his first professional season, and has since led Carolina to three-straight NFC South division titles from 2013-2015.

"ESPN's already started their crap about black vs. white, good vs. evil, and I know a lot of those fools over there got radio talk shows", Barkley said, "but you can just see they're framing this narrative: Black against white, good against evil".

The Panthers pulled Finnegan and cornerback Robert McClain off the National Football League scrap heap late in the season following injuries to Bené Benwikere and Charles Tillman.

"I don't think people have seen what I am or what I'm trying to do".

Ban Newton as in don't allow him to set foot inside the stadium. I do my best to be colorblind, but I would be telling a lie if I said I don't blame certain things on race.

"I don't know. I think people...well somebody might, but I think people should be scared of a quarterback with his skillset more than anything else".

"It really should be about your merits more than anything else", the coach said. "If you aren't enjoying yourself, don't play the game". "That's how we should judge people".

Many Panthers fans commented on that letter defending the team and Newton.
