Drake and T-Mobile Bring 'Hotline Bling' to the Super Bowl

Celebrities have appeared in Super Bowl commercials for decades - with perhaps the most famous example being National Football League star "Mean Joe" Greene tossing his towel to a kid in his iconic 1979 Coca-Cola ad. Likewise, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird play a high-stakes game of horse in a particularly memorable 1993 McDonald's spot. A big reason why the game is so much longer than any other National Football League game through the season and post season.

T-Mobile isn't exactly a "cool" brand to the kids.

The commercial is actually pretty clever, and I chuckled a few times while watching it. The setup is simple; Drake is filming his iconic music video for "Hotline Bling" and wireless network executives keep interjecting with marketing fine print that needs to be included.

"These changes don't ruin the song at all", Drake says grinning.

"Also", another exec adds.

Late previous year, T-Mobile announced a plan that would allow users to stream online music and video without using data. We're sure to see some more creative marketing schemes for the Super Bowl as we approach Sunday. "T-Mobile is the Un-carrier". And if T-Mobile wins two out of the three, then the customer gets to hold up a sign saying T-Mobile's better (actual wording is a bit different) for a picture, but if Verizon wins then the customer gets $100 in cash instantly.
