Cam Newton
Ron Wolf and Charley Armey, a pair of former Super Bowl-winning general managers, both like Newton's Carolina Panthers over Manning's Denver Broncos.
"I said it before the playoffs - he's ready for big-time football", wide receiver Jericho Cotchery said.
The Carolina Panthers beat the Arizona Cardinals 49-15 at home in Sunday's NFC Championship Game to set up a Super Bowl 50 matchup with the Denver Broncos.
Perhaps for emphasis, he repeated himself. The Patriots scored with 12 seconds remaining but couldn't convert on the two-point conversion to force overtime. I ain't missing the Super Bowl. Sunday was the 17th meeting between the surefire hall-of-fame quarterbacks. Denver's Gary Kubiak became the seventh coach to reach the Super Bowl in his first year as coach of a team....
Rivera, who won a Super Bowl as a player with the Chicago Bears, told Fox News Latino ahead of the Cardinals game that he credits his success to his Latino roots and military upbringing.
If the other two categories aren't definitive, the team with the better, stronger, cutting-edge QB nearly always wins the title.
But Manning showed he has something left.
When Newton flew into the end zone for a 12-yard third-quarter touchdown, he posed like a superhero, dabbed a bit, and pointed the Panthers toward the Bay Area.
The Cardinals had given up only one rushing touchdown to a quarterback all season.
Fitzgerald in eight postseason games has 53 catches for 912 yards and 10 touchdowns. "It's just a complete shock and I let a lot of people down".
It shockingly was Brady, not Manning, who had some awful numbers on Sunday. "It's a question you got to ask: Why not us?" His passer rating was a horrific 18.1 in the first half.
Was it Tom Brady?
And now Manning gets to face them.
- Aqib Talib and Bradley Roby, Broncos.
"We've been dreaming about this moment since Day 1", Newton said.
Newton indicated the Panthers won't be going to northern California to hang out with Steph Curry or take a trip to wine country.
As for the head-to-head match-up, it was lopsided.
The over/under on the game was settling in at 45 points in early betting. Two Panthers, Greg Olsen and Corey Brown, had over 100 yards receiving. Newton lowered his shoulder, plowed through Clemons and lunged for a first down. He had two touchdowns in three straight games from Week 14 to Week 16.
It didn't get any better even when Arizona finally moved the ball into Carolina territory, only to see Kawann Short sack Palmer and strip the ball. The Panthers manhandled two prominent defenses in the playoffs, Seattle (at least for a half) and then Arizona. With 5:47 left in the quarter, he hauled in a perfectly thrown ball just over the fingertips of Cardinals cornerback Jerraud Powers for a gain of 39 yards.
After Ginn chased down Peterson, Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer threw the first of his four interceptions and the Panthers took a commanding 24-7 lead into halftime.
With the interceptions, Palmer admitted that he was forcing it.
