The Motorola Rokr or iTunes Phone dubbed the"iPhone was an ironic death knell for the company
Recently, Lenovo made an announcement of Motorola handsets being overhauled by the brand "Moto By Lenovo". Another tidbit the executive revealed was Lenovo was killing Motorola's best selling smartphones - the Moto E and Moto G. However, it seems the death of the Moto G and Moto E is highly exaggerated.
If you're worked up because you read that Moto's parent-company Lenovo plans the Moto G and Moto E from its future lineups, you can relax. Right now, Motorola's phones have a near-stock Android interface, but Lenovo wants to ditch it by 2017. While Moto branded phones will greatly focus on United States markets, Vibe phones will target Asian nations like China and India. Motorola's Moto phone designs have been good till date where both good ergonomics and looks are put together.
Moto G 2015 users in Canada and the United States have started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on their devices.
According to reports, it is very likely that Motorola's smartphones will get in line with the rest of the alpha pack, meaning that Motorola smartphones will finally feature fingerprint sensors.
Spilling more beans on the upcoming smartphones, Xudong added that Moto devices will be targeted at the high-end market and the Vibe series will target affordable/budget smartphone segment.
The Lenovo exec has shared an additional detail about the Moto portfolio for 2016: there will be no more phones launching with screens smaller than 5 inches. In 2014, Motorola is taken over by Lenovo for an amount less than ten billion dollars, which anticipates the inevitable decline.
A statement published last Friday sought to clarify what Motorola Mobility COO Rick Osterloh said at last week's CES conference that Lenovo would phase out the 88-year-old Motorola brand.
