Google just shut down all the social media accounts for Glass
Despite no longer being on public sale, Google Glass, which originally cost $1,500 to purchase, still manages to hold a fair bit of attention in the technology space, with rumours about a comeback surfacing regularly. However recently Google has made some changes that has us questioning the future of the project, namely when they started closing all social media accounts that are related to the project.
Google Glass' social media accounts, including Twitter, Google+ and Instagram, had continued to be updated with holiday messages and #throughGlass postings, which highlighted the uses of the headset, despite it not being available to the public for over a year.
It went on to instruct users to ask questions on the support page for Glass.
The company has yet to release an official explanation on the decision, which has got many speculating on the meaning of the move. We learn best from actual recorded history. The Aura team is working on a few different devices right now, one of which being a continuation of Glass referred to as "EE" or the "Enterprise Edition".
Google had stopped selling Glass in January a year ago after low consumer interest and the company itself acknowledged that it was time to shift its strategy. Google's front for representing the device in the consumer eye may be gone now, but in the background Glass has lived on under the umbrella of Project Aura.
The rumors have suggested that Google will position this glass-less and audio focused wearable to consumers instead.
